two weeks and counting, the final few days of October - tomorrow'd make for a rather interesting day.

had opted to sign up as a pledger for the Fight the Stigma: Pledge of Silence campaign (or program or whatever you'd like to call it but campaign sounds more suitable a word) which means no speaking for eight hours.

might be slightly tedious but doubt that it'd be quite as bad as it might seem - might be heading to school at 8am which means it'd be over at around 4pm - leaves an hour for speaking in LMS.

the second week of school, another one more till the TCP camp, they ought to cancel that.

not too sure how that might turn out to be though if it's all with TRM people, it wouldn't be that nasty; otherwise, it would make for a rather dreaded three days.

on the same side of things, all projects have started and that my friends, make for a very very unpleasantly busy life - not fun at all.

first meet-up for the HOM/FABM IP was quite fruitful; first for BMGT tomorrow, hope that turns out well too; even more projects to work on for this semester, wouldn't say it'd be a bad one but hectic would describe it nicely.

then again, still have the time for a little entertainment so that doesn't seem quite as bad as it is.

and entertaining it is.

till next time.

the worst part of life is dependency.

it's been a week already, a rather quick week, that's how it is going to be for five more times, once every semester begins - that's another eighteen weeks to go.

that sounds like such a long, long wait but then again, there'd be a two weeks break so that makes it a sixteen weeks wait, a hundred & twelve days, minus off the weekends and that makes it a 80days term.

two months and twenty days, now that doesn't sound too long - two months passed by rather splendidly, would suppose the headaches and stress kicks in soon enough halfway through but would prefer to deal with that later.

on a separate issue, came across this rather interesting news article on Yahoo! news:

MANILA - Facebook users beware. Psychologists are now probing a new kind of addiction called Facebook Addiction Disorder (FAD).

Psychologist Dr. Michael Fenichel, who has published numerous writings on FAD online, describes it as a situation in which Facebook usage "overtakes" daily activities like waking up, getting dressed, using the telephone, or checking e-mail.

"The amazing thing is that, like cellphones, nobody seems to notice the vast amount of time and energy - at work, at home, and now while on the move - people are devoting to Facebook. It has become a given," Fenichel writes in an online post titled "Facebook Addiction Disorder- A New Challenge?"

FAD could be classified under the more broad "internet addiction disorder" or internet overuse.
Academic papers have already posed theories on internet addiction and social networking addiction, and even less, cellphone addiction.

"Like most activities, moderation and integration are key. Those that may seriously label and treat FAD as a behavioral addiction will clearly need to use context in determining if a behavior has become demonstrably harmful to overall social, work, or face-to-face interpersonal efficacy," Fenichel added.

You are a Facebook addict if...

According to Joanna Lipari, a clinical psychologist at the University of California, Los Angeles who was interviewed for a CNN report, here are some signs that you are addicted to Facebook:

1. You lose sleep over Facebook. When using Facebook becomes a compulsion and you spend entire nights logged on to the site, causing you to become tired the next day.

2. You spend more than an hour a day on Facebook. Lipari said it is difficult to define how much is too much when it comes to Facebook usage, but that an average person need only spend half an hour on the site.

3. You become obsessed with old loves or exes you reconnect with on Facebook.

4. You ignore work in favor of Facebook. This means you do not do your job in order to sneak time on Facebook.

5. The thought of getting off Facebook leaves you in cold sweat. If you try going a day without Facebook and it causes you stress and anxiety, this means you need help.

According to the same report by Elizabeth Cohen, Senior CNN Medical Correspondent, Facebook addiction is not yet an actual medical diagnosis.

However, the report notes that several therapists in the United States have noticed a rise in the number of clients who get hooked on social networking, to the point of social dysfunction.

Facebook fun

Facebook, launched by the world's youngest billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, has over 300 million users worldwide, half of whom log on to the site every day.

Further, about 2 billion photos and 14 million videos are uploaded on various Facebook pages a month and about 6 billion minutes are spent on Facebook a day, worldwide.

According to Willis Wee, founder of the social media and marketing blog Penn-Olson.com, this is twice as much time that people spend on Google.

The global social networking website allows users to post and share content (like photos, links, videos, and notes), play casual games and applications, and interact with friends and family through messaging and chat. abs-cbnNEWS.com. With reports from CNN.com.

so anyone suffering from FAD or know anyone who suffers from this?

a good meal at TOT and a better session of mahjong - too bad gapo couldn't join us with his busy busy NYJC life but it was a great game that lasted till almost the end of the night - around 2345, a nice sequence to that.

lost, again, but nothing was counted for and that's why these are loved so much - loads of fun, winning and losing, goofing up.

it's been a fun, random day and night and it's a great one to conclude a week with.

everything's a rush, slow down, it might make things better, set them in their place faster..

it's the final night of the two-months holidays, five more to go before the end of a polytechnic education - it wouldn't be too long before it'll come to an end, a blink of an eye more than likely.

until that day comes, there's another 5semesters left to go through, including the one starting tomorrow, the joys of being out of the education system.

a shame, hadn't managed to go out and visit enough places for the food, failed foodhunt for this term break I'd suppose though that wouldn't matter too much since food's food either ways but to eat to live juz doesn't cut it as to live to eat.

was hoping to go explore more places - but juz managed to get around to Chinatown, Holland Village, Clarke Quay, Bugis, Queenstown, the Singapore Botanic Gardens and Pasir Ris (mostly for work, which isn't too much fun)

sure, it was interesting but nothing too large an eye-opener - serves as a refresher though it isn't that much fun but it was cost-efficient, the bus goes everywhere nowadays, it's juz the distance that's a bother.

the BBQ on Friday was a 'success', sort of - at least six people attended with three more from LeiYi & gapo, jd, czx, mr lam and ivan tan.

makes for a rather interesting session, fun but yet slightly awkward though it wasn't quite as 'bad' so to say, haven't had a gathering with them out till so late in the middle of the night already it feels almost nostalgic.

the picnic at the Singapore Botanic Gardens was fun, quite a number of people whom haven't been around for the longest time possible came and it was great to see them again.

would suppose it'd be quite long till the next time we'd meet but it'd be another pleasant experience, for the most part, i believe.

-CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF DUE TO IVANTAN-

didn't get to read up too much about what is to be done for the next semester, at all - would make for a rather fresh start though, like a clean sheet of paper which more than likely wouldn't bode too well.

all's well that ends well, we'll see what happens by the end of it all, there's juz slightly less than eight hours before the beginning of semester 1.2 but there's neither weariness nor excitement coursing through.

wonder what that means, oh well, movies till it gets boring.

sometimes, it's not quite as bad as it seems to be.

everything that happens, happens for a reason; everything that occurs, occurs for a purpose; to everything, there is a cause.

don't buy that, that'd be the worst choice you'd have ever made.

one more day till BBQ.

two more days till picnic.

three more days to work.

& four more till break is over.

it has been a good two long months.

something for someone who needs alittle inspiration.

and something that's a tad more 'serious' for those who care.

when you're at the top of your game, it's time to stop cause struggling to maintain that peak juz doesn't look good.
